December 30th 2011 will not exist for the people of Samoa, as their country will move (not physically!) from one side of the International Date Line to the other. The purpose of the move is to put them in a time zone more closely related to that of their major trading partners. They will change time from December 29 to December 31, skipping December 30.

A spokesperson, interviewed by radio this morning, said the people of Samoa were quite all right with the decision and tonight were going to party like there was no tomorrow..... *heheheheh*
More seriously - Once the switch is made Samoa will be one hour ahead of Wellington (NZ) and three ahead of Sydney.
The switch will reverse a decision made 120 years ago to move to the east of the international dateline because most of Samoa's trade at the time was with the United States and Europe.
