Some of each - after internal fertilisation, most species lay eggs, some abandoning the eggs after laying them, some nurturing them. Some species keep the eggs inside the feamle until they are nearly ready to hatch (called ovoviviparous). A few species, such as the boa constrictor, are viviparous (give birth to live young).
