How much cocaine was actor Tim Allen once arrested with, and how did he reduce his prison time?

"650 grams (1.4 lb) of cocaine. He subsequently pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges, and provided the names of other dealers in exchange for a sentence of three to seven years rather than a possible life imprisonment."

"On 2 October 1978, Tim Allen Dick was arrested in Detroit for possession of a pound and a half of cocaine. Under Michigan law, he could have been sentenced to life in prison. Instead he turned state's evidence -- the legal term for ratting on your cohorts. Allen reportedly fingered at least 21 co-conspirators, and in exchange, he was sentenced to just five years under the more lenient (at that time) federal law. He was paroled after 2½ years, and after dropping his last name, he has become one of America's most successful ex-cons gone legit." http://www.nndb.com/people/279/000025204/

Master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, has just been on the phone. (I know he's dead, but masters of the macabre can do these sort of things.) He is starting up a library, and he wants me to look out for a few books. The books he wants are "The Dance of Death," "Narrative of the Life of James Allen, alias Jonas Pierce, alias James H. York, alias Burley Grove, the Highwayman, Being His Death-bed Confession to the Warden of the Massachusetts State Prison" and "A True and Perfect Relation of the Whole Proceedings Against the Late Most Barbarous Traitors, Garnet A. Jesuit and His Confederates." Why would he want these books?
