    What is the record number of tornadoes ever recorded in a single 24-hour period in the area of the United States commonly known as Tornado Alley?

    		147 tornadoes touched down in 13 U.S. states on 3 and 4 April, 1974.
    One more tornado touched down in Canada at Windsor ON, then lifted as it entered MI, for a total of 148.

    It took several different Dogpile and Web Crawler searches before I finally found this site. It also has a map showing the locations and strengths of the tornadoes. They seem to have occurred at the eastern end of Tornado Alley. If there is other information about a specific 24 hour time period of numerous tornadoes I could not find it.
