Thinking about '"who's on first base?", I was wondering if anyone knows the "Watt's bust/what's bust on the sideboard" version of this ancient routine? I can't find it anywhere.

Could you be referring to "Who Done It?"

This was a 1942 Abbott and Costello film.

"During the murder scene, Abbott confuses Costello with the "volts-and-watts" routine. Lou bleats, "Next you'll be telling me Watt's on second base!" Later, in the radio giveaway program scene, Bud and Lou tune the radio to a broadcast of their own Who's on First? routine, which they promptly turn off."

I can't find the routine either, but I did find G.F. Watts' bust (posthumous), and another bust by G.F. Watts (Watts' bust)... http://www.victorianweb.org/sculpture/frampton/33.html

It seems that James Watt also invented a machine for copying sculpture (busts are shown in his workshop), aside from tinkering with steam: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/architecture/the-workshop-that-changed-the-world-2250607.html?action=Gallery&ino=15

All of which makes it hard to believe that a comedy routine based on "Watt's bust?" isn't just as famous as "Who's on First?" Once again, Watt is on Second...
