Why is a governor's campaign called a gubernatorial campaign?

Question #125187. Asked by Joepetz. (Feb 19 12 9:56 PM)

'Gubernator' (hence gubernatorial) comes from the Latin to steer or govern. 'Governor' on the other hand comes from Old French.
