Has there been any research into the ethnic origins of any North American Indian Tribes?

Yes. From what I understand of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_history_of_indigenous_peoples_of_the_Americas, it supports the tehory that their ethnic origin is from Asia by way of the "land bridge" across the Bering Strait. "Human settlement of the New World occurred in stages from the Bering sea coast line, with an initial layover on Beringia for the small founding population."
