    In regard to songs, what is a false ending?

    		In a musical composition, it is a complete stop of the song for one or more seconds before continuing.

    		Or do you mean a false cadence, where the harmony appears to be heading in the direction of endeng on the root but then makes a surprise modulation without warning (these are common in music written after 1650).
