"Take Me Out to the Ball Game" is a 1908 Tin Pan Alley song by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer which has become the unofficial anthem of baseball, although neither of its authors had attended a game prior to writing the song.[1] The song is traditionally sung during the seventh-inning stretch of a baseball game. Fans are generally encouraged to sing along.

The chorus of this song is only heard in the middle of the seventh inning. Some say the time it takes to sing the chorus is the amount of time you need to properly wash your hands.

Thank you for those links, sportsherald. It's probably best not to post many lyrics on here. I appreciate all the answers, and it does seem that this is a soccer tradition that hasn't directly transferred to the USA. On the other hand, Liverpool's anthem was stolen from 'Carousel'.
