Dreamer61dpl is correct with Key West, Florida. OK, so it's an island! The 'Southernmost Point in the Continental United States' is not defined geographically; rather it is defined operationally! By definition, the 'Southernmost Point in the Continental United States' is that piece of land upon which sits the monument for the 'Southernmost Point in the Continental United States.' You can see it from here - http://photo.pattanagul.com/miami/1_1_Pc200023.htm or here - http://members.nbci.com/drs7700/keys/keys2.html or here - http://www.cayo.net/keywest/sopoint.html If you want to get really picky about staying on the mainland, East Cape, which is west of the town of Flamingo, sticks out the farthest to the South. You will have to go by boat or trek through the mangrove swamps to get there. Watch out for those gators and crocs!
