The Amazon River had no bridges until one was built at Manaus in 2011. It is still 1500 km from Manaus to the river mouth, with no bridges in that length.
I think I'm ready to go with that mighty flow, Dippo.
Although there are many rivers to cross by bridge, surprisingly the second longest appears not to be one of them.
I lived along a tributary of the Amazon for a good long while. Now I live relatively near a once-proposed "Bridge to Nowhere." And that's the reason there's no bridge over the Amazon--there are no major roads near it.
