    How did Dr. William Beaumont take advantage of Alexis St. Martin's gunshot injury?

    		St. Martin was shot in the stomach. After recovery, Beaumont was able to conduct experiments to observe how the human body digests food, by putting food in the gunshot wound and pulling it out after a short period of time.
