    When did it first become common to print photographs on paper with 'serrated' or wavy edges?

    According to the "Best Answer" at this source http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090720162628AAIJgNK, the late 1940s: "Those wavy edges were, as stated, a fashionable trend for photoprocessing during the late 40's and Mid to late 50's."

    Many thanks. In the meantime, I have remembered that the term 'deckle paper' is often used. I tend to associate it with (some) photographs printed in the 1950s but suspected that the fashion had started earlier.
