Can anyone name any famous scientists who were also clerics or church ministers as I am trying to identify a photograph of such a person dressed in a cleric outfit that looks 19th or 20th century, wearing round spectacles?

You could possibly be looking at Gregor Mendel, the famous geneticist, who was a monk. Many experiments in genetics on pea plants and the like. I believe he was Austrian, and lived around 18th or 19th century.
