    In which galaxy is the star Alpha Centauri?

    		Alpha Centauri is the closest star (other than our sun) to us. We are in the Milky Way, and so is Alpha Centauri.

    		Alpha Centauri is the nearest VISIBLE star to us, but the actual nearest star is Proxima Centauri (hence the name!) which is in the same region of space.

    		If by visible you mean by the naked eye, then yes.
