    What does "a difficult sell" mean?

    If you are trying to make a sale, but the customer is being picky, doesn't really want to buy, or keeps getting distracted, that's a difficult/hard sell.

    Resistance in a potential buyer might also result from a general distrust of sellers per se, since sellers are viewed as having a tendency towards false advertising and/or manipulation of truth:
