What is the difference between boxing gloves used for sparring practice and those used for actual bouts?

    Question #128310. Asked by dcpddc478. (Dec 10 12 9:20 AM)

    pmarney

16 ounce gloves are normally used for sparring unless the Boxer is a heavy puncher where gloves up to 18 to 20 ounces can be used. Gloves used for matches are dependent on the Boxers weight and are 8 or 10 ounce. 8 ounce Gloves are normally used by Boxers less than 140 lbs and 10 ounce glove used for those over 140 lbs
