According to the Mayan calendar, if the world allegedly ends on December 21, 2012 at midnight, which time zone constitutes the "midnight", or will the world slowly end an hour at a time as each location reaches "midnight"?

Since we only think of the end of the world as December 21, 2012 because the dates have already been changed to GMT usage, it's probably best to use midnight at Greenwich as the point. As far as I can tell at time of writing it is 6am natural time (ie accepting noon as the time the sun is at it's highest) on 20th December in the Pacific Islands. http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/ Given that and the above link this question will answer itself in 16 hours.
