    Has any British professional football goalkeeper ever become or alternated as an outfield player?

    		It has happened several times. One example was in the 2004-05 season in a match between Manchester City and Middlesboro when City's manager replaced a midfielder with goalkeeper David James for the last few minutes with Nicky Weaver taking over in goal. The idea of the change was to make use of James' height in an attempt to win headers against the Middlesboro's defenders.
