At 18, I was injured in a bus accident that left me with a crippled foot and in pain for most of my life. During my recuperation I taught myself to paint, and frequently utilized graphic images to depict my physical and emotional suffering. Married to a fellow artist, I only had three exhibitions during my brief lifetime, at the last one, in my native Mexico, I was carried in on a stretcher. In 1995, 41 years after my death, one of my paintings sold for more than $3 million, the second-highest price ever for a work by a female artist. Who am I?
