I recently saw the 2003 movie "Young Adam" with Ewan McGregor. Since noone in the movie is named Adam, to what does the name "Young Adam" refer?

I can't find anything on the web about this title. However,
Trocchi did write a sequel of sorts called Cain's Book.
I can only assume the title refers to the biblical Adam and the question over freedom vs lack of freedom.
I hope this helps and someone can add more info

It could be a reference to 'the old Adam': "human nature lacking in grace; humans in their unredeemed state.".
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/old+adam Presumably someone in the film is considered to be redeemed in some way. I can't see much sign of it in the Wikipedia articles, though. Possibly it could be that this is an unredeemed modern person as opposed to the biblical Adam.
