Is there an offical date for the start of Spring in Europe, or can it vary from country to country?

Question #129200. Asked by Chavs. (Jan 28 13 8:01 AM)

The "official" date for the start of spring is the vernal equinox occuring March 20/21, but naturally the actual weather change varies from country to country depending on the respective climate.

    Thank you, Picard.

That article would seem to imply that there is no offical date for the start of Spring, but there is an historical tradition that some people no longer use.
