What is Spanish for 'Spanish March'?

    Question #129275. Asked by SirMusic98. (Feb 01 13 1:32 AM)

    1nn1

Spanish March or March of Barcelona (both in English) was a buffer zone beyond the province of Septimania, created by Charlemagne in 795 as a defensive barrier between the Islamic Umayyad Moors of Al-Andalus and the Christian Frankish Kingdom.
Marca Hispánica is the correct term in Spanish (where Hispanica comes from the Roman name for Iberia) The use of "Spain" to describe what we now know as modern Spain arose from the unification of the crowns of Aragon and Castile by the marriage of their sovereigns.
