If global warming causes the Earth to get hotter, why will the eventual outcome be an Ice Age?

    Question #13051. Asked by Spanky.

    Gnomon

It won't cause an Ice Age. But it might have the effect of diverting the Gulf Stream and North Atlantic Drift, the stream of warm water which keeps Europe from being as cold as other northerly parts of the world.

If the Gulf Stream changes direction, Europe might become just as cold as the Northern parts of Canada and Siberia which are at the same latitude. So for Europeans, it will be like an Ice Age.

Ice Age is highly improbable put strange weather that include extreme cold is already happening a very cold winter in Siberia and just last week snow in Saudi Arabia in the middle of the summer in a place where the temperatures are usually around 40 degrees centigrade.

    cocomojoe says:

The theory is that global warming will cause a melting of the polar ice caps. This melting will cause the water levels to rise which will cause a continental shift. That shift will cause volcanoes to erupt at an alarming rate. The dust and smoke from the erupting volcanoe will cause the sun to not be at maximum exposure to the earths surface. This will cause refreeezing of the polar ice caps and other water sources. This will cause another shift causing more volcanoes to erupt, whic will cause more smoke and less sun. When the volcanoes are through erupting and the smoke clears the ice and snow will cause the a reflection of light off of the earths surface and will keep it cool until a gradual thaw can occur.
