    William Shakespeare is the most published playwright in history. Who is number two?

    		I always find it difficult to find number two of anything! That being said, after
    some research and what I would call an educated guess, I have concluded the most
    likely answer is George Bernard Shaw. It was also my instinctive answer after
    reading the question.
    As I said, I did some research, to find he was not only popular and still is. He
    was very prolific, more so than Shakespeare, which I didn't know. Shakespeare is
    credited with 37 plays and Shaw 57.

    		I'm not sure about published, but Alan Ayckbourne has been claimed as the second most performed playwright in the world.
