Which US president was a male fashion model at one time in his life?

This quote is from a brief biography of Gerald Ford found at this site:

    http://www.americanpresident.org/KoTrain/Courses/GF/GF_Life_Before_The_Presidency.htm

Taking his boxing team to a match against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, Ford met Phyllis Brown, a slim, blond, and beautiful student at Connecticut College for Women. The two fell in love and began what Ford later recalled as a 'torrid four-year affair.' She introduced Ford to skiing, the New York theater, and fashion modeling. Miss Brown soon dropped out of college to become a fashion model, and she convinced Ford to try his hand at modeling; they appeared in the winter sports edition of Look magazine in March 1940. They also made the cover of Cosmopolitan in 1942, and thereafter talked of marriage. Their ardor cooled, however, when she insisted on continuing her modeling career in New York rather than living in Grand Rapids while Gerald practiced law.

Which United States president was once a professional male model?

Less was more for what fashion model?

Recent pieces in such publications as "Vanity Fair" and the New York Times' Fall Fashion Supplement have taken a look at the life of the late and unconventional fashion maven Isabella Blow. It's occurred to me that she was a fine illustration of an admiring French term that might be idiomatically translated as "attractively unattractive." What is that term?
