    Noah Webster, born October 16, 1758 began writing his dictionary at the age of
    43. It took him 27 years and it had 70,000 words in it. See:

    Webster's last dictionary was the 1841 "An American Dictionary of the English Language, Corrected and Enlarged" which contains 78,000 words.
