I would have to say James Monroe. He was president from 1817-1825 and finished his term. Harrison, the 9th president died in 1841 after one month of his presidency. Lincoln, the 16th president, was assassinated in 1865 after four years of his presidency. Garfield, the 20th president died after about 6 months in office in 1881. McKinley, the 25th president died in 1901 after about four years in office. Harding, the 29th president died in 1923 after being inaugurated in 1921. FD Roosevelt, the 32nd president, died in 1945, after being elected four times. And Kennedy, the 35th president, was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963, after being president for close to a 1000 days.

Every president after Monroe elected in a year ending with '0' died in office. Roosevelt gets an asterisk as he died following his re-election in '44, not in '40. This trend ended thanks to Ronald W Reagan surviving the attempt on his life.
