Well I finally found it. John O'Hara the novelist said this of George Gershwin when George Gershwin died, 'George Gershwin died on July 11, 1937, but I don't have to believe that if I don't want to'. I went into Google and just typed in the quote, also I have a book of quotations and it is in there.
