In a standard IQ test what is the minimum score needed to bring yourself in the top one percent of the population?

    Question #13662. Asked by mort.

    l3i7l

Since different tests will yield different scores, there is no standard answer for this. A Binet score of 137, an old SAT of 1310, or an old ACT composite of 31 all get you into the top one percent. If you think you might qualify, I suggest that you contact one of the following groups.

    AMERICAN MENSA
Mensa is an international society that has one - and only one - qualification for membership: a score in the top 2% of the population on a standardized intelligence test.

As a member of Mensa myself, I found these groups and web addresses in the latest Mensa bulletin. There may be others out there as well. Remember, brains ain't everything, ya gotta know how ta use em too. Don't get too smart for your own good! Good luck!

    INTERTEL
Members of the society come from varied cultures and all walks of life; the single attribute they all share is high intellectual ability. An organization of those with IQ scores in the top 1% of the population.

The INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY for PHILOSOPHICAL ENQUIRY
The Society is an institution for advanced studies, original research and high achievement, for which a demonstrated high level of intellect is merely an entrance requirement. Requires a standardized test score in the 99.9 percentile.

The Triple Nine Society is committed to friendship, communication, the adventure of intellectual exploration, and a greater realization of individual potentials. The only common thread is that they have tested at or above the 99.9th percentile on at least one of several standardized adult intelligence tests.
