I'm pretty sure it was Rin Tin Tin though I am having trouble finding info to back that up. He did win 'most popular movie' that year.

Opening night at the movies looked like a line at an amusement park. 'The Brothers' had some of the most fine men and women in Hollywood. Men and women were excited to see the scenes that had the most sex appeal. All I can say is...go see the movie!
