    Who made the first successful photograph in 1837?

    		Louis Daguerre took the first dagguerrotype in 1837, in a process that would later be known as photography.

    		Joseph Niepce took the first photograph, in 1827, not 1837. Maybe this was not considered a 'successful' photograph. As the previous poster said, Daguerre made his first successful 'daguerrotype' in 1837, so if the date 1837 is correct, the answer is Daguerre.
