    What do you call the dot worn by Hindus on their foreheads, and what is it for?

    		It is called BINDI or TILAK in hindi language.It is supposed to bring good to the entire family.The absense on the forehead of a married woman indicates that she has lost her husband.
    But,all these things are of the past now.It is not compulsory to wear one on the forehead.Nowadays,it is more for improving the looks.
