Grover Washington -- Washington was born in Buffalo, New York on December 12, 1943.
Grover left Buffalo to play in the Midwest with a group called the Four Clefs. No mention of his being a founding member.
"I was at a Philadelphia 76er game when Grover Washington was called out to play the National Anthem. I can't remember ever being moved as much as his saxophone did that night. He made it sound like the National Anthem was written to be played on the sax." I'm not finding WHEN or who the other team was.
