George Washington almost chose not to go to the Constitutional Convention. What were his reasons and why did he change his mind?

According to one website, Washington didn't want to go to the Convention because 'his brother had just died, his mother and sister were seriously ill, and he was in such pain from rheumatism he could scarcely sleep at night. He had refused an invitation to go and speak to the Cincinnati Society, and was a little embarrassed to show up after he had refused.
