    Ku Klux Klan is a mispronunciation of the phrase Kyklos Clan, from the Greek word kyklos meaning a circle.

    According to Brewer's Phrase and Fable, the name derives from kuklos, the Greek for circle. The KKK was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1866.
