    Michelle is a name created in French as a feminine form of Michel ( = Michael). A more usual spelling in French is Michele with a grave accent on the first e.
    Michael is derived from Hebrew and means 'Who is like the Lord?' (Source: 'Oxford Dictionary of Christian Names')
