What instrument gives pitch to the orchestra?

    Question #14835. Asked by Dpete4. (Dec 06 01 1:43 PM)

    The Gorm

The oboe (an A I think)

The Gorm is right. Normally an oboe plays an A to tune the orchestra. If the performance is for piano and orchestra, though, the piano provides the note. (It would be impossible to retune the piano).
