What is a radula? I have found a couple of definitions but they don't seem to be in the singular as was asked.

Anonymous says: The OED says that radula means 'the odontophore or lingual ribbon of certain molluscs'. Chambers Dictionary defines it as 'a mollusc's tongue or rasping ribbon'. So it seems to be the ribbon-like tongue of some types of molluscs. Tue Dec 18 18:52:07 CST 2001 Stevo says: Yes, it acts rather like a file and is used for scraping off food particles and drawing them into the mouth of the mollusc. (Source is latin. Radere = to scrape) Wed Dec 19 02:44:02 CST 2001 (Reposted as one entry to Stevo - McG)
