    What was the name of the play on which the film 'The Apartment' was based?

    		According to the Virgin Film Guide, 'The Apartment' was not based on a play, but was written and directed by Billy Wilder, who shot the film right up to the finish without deciding the end, handing out wet mimeographed scripts to the cast 20 minutes before scenes. The film was however later made into the musical 'Promises, Promises'.
