The most popular color - 19 percent of vehicles - was silver, followed by white, red and the neutral colors, basically variations of tan. During much of the '90s, green was the most popular color, according to PPG Industries.

PPG found that 19 percent of the 2001 model vehicles sold were silver, compared to white (16 percent) and red (15 percent), which finished second and third, respectively.
