My friend in school used to be able to turn her eyelids inside out. How do you do this trick?

Taught to me when learning First Aid by an eye surgeon from Birmingham Eye Hospital, England but not allowed by the teaching of first aid today. Place a matchstick along the line of the upper eye lid below the eyebrow, grasp the eyelashes and the upper eye lid will revert, foreign objects can then be removed from beneath them.
