Like the Earth, the Sun spins on its axis. This takes about 11 of our days. Considering the great size of the sun, this is very fast. It also rotates in a circular orbit around the centre of our galaxy. This is a much slower process, taking about 200,000 years to make one complete revolution.

As it is entirely gas the sun takes a varying amount of time to spin on its axis depending on whether it is near the poles or the equator.
