In snooker a player attempts to pot a red but leaves it on the edge of the pocket. The second player then takes aim on another red, but as he is about to play the first ball falls into the pocket. Who scores what?

The first player's visit does not end until the second player makes contact with the table. Contact includes any part of his/her clothing as well as body. If the hanging red falls before the second player makes contact with the table then the first player is deemed to have potted the red and continues his/her visit. If, however, the second player has made contact with the table before the red drops then he is deemed to have played that shot, receives the point for it and continues his/her visit by taking on a colour.
