As a interesting side note, when the sword was presented to Stalin he made a dramatic gesture and kissed it before handing it to one of the other people in his party. And, that person proceeded to let the sword slip out of it's scabard and noisily clink and clank to the floor detracting somewhat from Stalin's flamboyant kiss. (I wonder if that guy ended up in the Gulags?)
