Does this count? In November of 1865, Major Henry Wirz, having been convicted by military court martial, symbolized the last casualty to a vicious war when he was hanged for his war crimes.
Or this one? April, General Robert E. Lee surrenders his Confederate army to General Ullysis S. Grant at Appomattox, Virginia. The same month President Lincoln is assinated by John Wilkes Booth and becomes the 'last casualty of the war.'

This is from the PBS web site for Ken Burn's Civil War series.
• On May 13, 1865, a month after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox, Private John J. Williams of the 34th Indiana became the last man killed in the Civil War, in a battle at Palmito Ranch, Texas. The final skirmish was a Confederate victory.
