The two generals were Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ulysses S. Grant. George Washington was a Lt. General, but by act of congress Oct. 11, 1976 they provided a posthumus apponitment of George Washington to the grade of General of Armies of U.S. www.fujisan.demon.co.uk/USPresidents/preslist.htm
