FunBobby says:
First meters in the U.S were 16 July 1935. There were 150. The meter was devised by Carlton Magee who established the Dual Parking Meter Co. So called because the meters were for the 'dual purposes' of regulation and revenue. Source 'Shell book of firsts' by Patrick Robertson
FunBobby says:
Should have added that the first city was Oklahoma.
