Hi Susie I sent a request to Marjoprie Bloy, an expert on this subject Here is her email reply: . Hiya Kainantu Thanks for your mail - I guess that you saw that I did my teacher training in Alnwick - Northumberland! Small world. I tried to check out the title of the book - I suspect that it is a book that's meant - and had no success whatsoever. Grey's government called a general election in 1831 during the Reform Act crisis and the best guess from several colleagues was that it would be a Dickens novel. It's not 'Oliver Twist', 'Our Mutual Friend' or 'Barnaby Rudge' (that one's starts with the Gordon Riots in 1780). I don't think that it's any of Disraeli's novels but could be one of Elizabeth Gaskell's (North and {South;} Mary Barton). I'll keep looking! . Isn't it wonderful that complete strangers are willing to help others ! Kianantu ( alias.........)
