The closest approximation I can find to the Campbell book is 'A Dictionary of Military Science' by E. S. N. Campbell, published in 1830. It's quoted several times in the Oxford English Dictionary. Apr 08 02, 12:14 PM

Which authors have written dictionaries? Which Arthurs have written dictionaries? Who wrote dictionaries besides Noah Webster?
